October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it has not gone unnoticed.
Every year, Google sees a spike in the search term “breast cancer” for the month of October. Even Beyonce’s father recently revealed his battle with the disease, further spreading awareness.

Some brands have taken note of this attention. Girlfriend Collective, for example, an activewear brand known for zero-waste production of clothing, recently launched their “1 in 8 Tee.”

The inspiration for the 1 in 8 Tee came from the statistic that 1 in 8 women have a risk of contracting breast cancer in their lifetime.
Girlfriend Collective is pledging to donate 100% of their profits from the tee to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. They also provide a link on the tee’s product page to allow customers to donate directly to the BCRF. In addition, the unique, pink tie-dyed tee is available in various sizes from XXS up to 6XL.

Girlfriend Collective is an excellent example of a truly transparent brand. Their clothing is produced ethically and sustainably, and they go the extra mile by donating 100% of the profits of the tee to breast cancer research. In the past, they’ve also donated percentages of their profits to ocean conservation and rainforest protection.
We hope to see more brands following in Girlfriend Collective’s footsteps this month and every month, for breast cancer research and more.
